Every Heart Begins As a Sculpture
Sherry Been is a New York artist working across sculpture, enamel, painting, and digital media.
Her signature sculpted heart has become a recurring artistic form through which she explores memory, recognition, gratitude, love, and human connection. From intimate Dedication Hearts created to honor people and meaningful moments to monumental sculptures envisioned for public spaces, her work considers how art can give physical form to feelings that are often difficult to express.
Working with copper, glass, enamel, and other materials, Sherry begins with the physical sculpture. From there, her work can move into photography, digital interpretation, licensing, collaborations, and large-scale installations, allowing the heart to enter different environments while remaining rooted in its original form.
