You Matter
Sherry Been is a Manhattan-based artist, sculpting in metal and using the enameling process to create unique sculptures of glass on copper. The compelling theme of her artwork is to elevate self-worth in marginalized individuals and communities by love-induced artwork that amplifies a “YOU MATTER” message.
Heart Collection
The “Heart Collection” is brought to life by the frantic and rhythmic movement of the sculpted, folded edges. Shadows of light and dark dappled with unique colors are created during the heating process. It is during this same heating process that the colors merge in rivers of molten glass that showcase the magic of each Heart.
Introducing the newest sculptures from Sherry Been.
Each of Sherry’s new sculptures are created by sifting glass onto gently sculpted copper and heating the sculpture to 1500 degrees. This process is repeated many times, allowing the glass to merge on to sculpted copper. The subtle interplay between the extremes in the folds of the copper, contrasting with the depth of glass and light playing off every crevice enabling her to capture the essence of what each individual sculpture is meant to be.
