A Heart for Dolly Parton

It has been a few weeks since we lost Dolly Parton. I wanted to take a few minute to write something about that, but nothing could articulate that tremendous sadness I felt. She was such a powerhouse and she touched our lives in a profound way. Her writing spoke to what we were going through at some point in our journey. The inevitable relationship issues, finding love, losing love and just navigating life as best we could. She found the way to write about it and sing in her beautiful voice in a way that connected us all.

More than that, she was so charming, so witty, and clever. She made me feel like I wasn’t alone with my feelings. When Whitney Houston sang her song, and it was the most incredible artistic version of what is possible, I would have thought Dolly would have felt overshadowed, but she so eloquently noted that she was making a fortune because of Whitney’s success. I thought that was remarkable. It showed how kind, how brilliant, and how incredibly gracious she was.

We have all been in her gracious presence, listened to her laugh and smiled at her humor. This heart is to honor her in a way she so richly deserves. The ultimate symbol of love dedicated to her, and created in her honor, reflecting her energy and the truest words of all…

that we will ALWAYS love her.
