A Heart For…Me
This heart is for me...
It is one of my original hearts sculpted in copper and enameled in the same way that the Russian artists at Faberge enameled their glorious eggs in the 1800’s.I have taken an image of my artwork, and augmented it to sparkle the way love should sparkle. It was so beautiful, I dedicated it to myself.
And here is why:
My amazing, beautiful, kind, and extraordinarily funny sister, was telling me about her wonderful daughter in law, who was becoming a partner in a law firm. Part of her process was to have a list of events or accomplishments that were relevant and would elevate her to a Partnership. We are referring to this as an accolades folder. So I share this wonderful story with my friends, and we always share what we are putting in our own personal accolades folder. This heart is something I found to be extraordinarily beautiful and deserving of existence in my accolades folder.
I have an emotional connection to my original artworks that has precluded me from selling them. It has also made me realize that the value and beauty of my artwork can be enjoyed in other ways.
Hence, I am licensing the artwork, so that others may enjoy it, as much as I do. I have worked on it in photoshop, and tried various 3 d animations with the hearts, and have also worked on them in illustrator. But my favorite, is AI. I can say, make this heart sparkly, and it does. Just like that. This is one of the versions it created today, and it has given me such joy to know that something that beautiful can be derived from my artwork.
While it seems arrogant to dedicate it to myself, I feel it is an acknowledgement of what aI have accomplished in these last few years of becoming an artist. I also think, that it belongs in my accolades folder as a milestone of acceptance that one can acknowledge themselves as being amazing, and not wait for validation from the outside world.
So please, to those of you who don’t have your own accolade folder, please start one, and any time you offer a kindness, or notice a brilliance in yourself or others, put it in your very own accolade folder, because, you are a treasure to the fabric of our universe.
One of the accomplishments I try to achieve consistently is to acknowledge the journey of those who touch my heart. By writing on Substack, I have found that this kindness has brought kindness and compassion to my own journey. I call this “A Heart for You” honors courageous people whose acts of kindness and beauty have touched my heart, as I hope they have touched yours.
